We’re Back!

We’ve been gone for much much longer than we wanted. We were hit with a triple whammy of problems — broken heat, burst pipes and a blown up exhaust fan. Everything is up and running and we will be open Thursday March1st and of course we are welcomed back with a potential snow storm. If you want to brave the snow we will open our doors at 11am and of course delivery will be available. New menu with the same delicious favorites and some new sandwiches as well.

Mum Mum’s Closed Until January 29th.

Pad Thai Too’s matriarch is on a much needed vacation. With one less cook at Pad Thai, Mum Mum’s will be closed until January 29th. We will reopen on Monday January 30th with extended hours. In the meantime, we will be serving food from Mum Mum’s Menu for lunch at Pad Thai Too (400 Kennedy Memorial Dr) Tuesday through Saturday 11-2. Delivery will also be available. Pickled Baby Carrots

We picked up some cute baby carrots at the Waterville Farmers’ Market today from 100 Acre Farm. We will be pickling these carrots to use in our sandwiches like the Miss Saigon, Green Goddess and the Hanoi Classic. The carrots are super tender and sweet and are perfect to be pickled. We will be using these local carrots for our sandwiches all summer or for as long as we can.

 

Tropical Curried Chicken Salad

Curried chicken salad is an item popping up on a lot menus. Chicken salad is always a great go to sandwich at your local deli, and adding curry powder just gives it that extra oomph. For some reason curry powder & mayo just meld together into a wonderful flavor. What makes Mum Mum’s curried chicken salad stand out and special? We put in just a little extra elbow grease (not literally of course ; } ) and lots of love. We use only chicken breast. We believe roasting gives the meat much better flavor. The chicken breast we use has the skin on to give it extra flavor and keep it moist. The split chicken breast is rubbed with olive oil,  kosher salt, fresh ground pepper and Javin’s yellow curry powder. Each chicken breast is shredded by hand and mixed with chopped red onion, celery, dried mango, golden raisins, ginger, mayo & yellow curry powder.

The flavors of all the ingredients blend so well together, and the mango just gives it that extra something, something. Give this sandwich a try next time and you won’t go back to that plain old, only mayo chicken salad again.

Hot Dawg! Hot Dawg! Hot Diggity Dawg!

Memorial Day is not only for the remembrance of our brave men and women, but it also marks the beginning of the American summer season. With summer comes, hot weather (hopefully), sunny skies (fingers doubly crossed), thirst quenching lemonade, juicy watermelon, barbecues smoking with burgers and of course HOT DOGS! There’s just something about these simple dogs in a bun that can conjure up the happiest childhood summer memories. You can be dirt poor or a billionaire food snob and I’m sure you’d still enjoy a simple hot dog.

It is a classic summer staple that I personally enjoy with mustard. Some cry bloody murder if you put ketchup on a dog, and each region of the US has their own take on the best condiment for the hot dog. Whatever your preference, hot dogs have definitely come a long way from the usual players like mustard, ketchup, sauerkraut and sauteed onions. With food globalization at its peak, the hot dog has become the perfect canvas for the Asian fusion flavors.

Here at Mum Mum’s we have created a special menu just for hot dogs that will be available all summer. Our hot dog creations combine unique, fresh Asian-inspired flavors to kick up the simple hot dog to a whole different taste experience.  If you enjoy are unique sandwiches, you definitely will not be disappointed by these special hot dogs.
